‘Lead every day as if it is your last’
While these works may seem a tad dramatic, if you think about it a bit more, you’d realize how true they are. Anyone who lived every day as if it were their last is sure to lead a very fruitful and meaningful life.
Very often, we see people spending their lives in frivolous pursuits; neither understanding nor appreciating the wonderful gift that has been bestowed upon them. It is very important for every individual to understand that they get only one shot at living life. Not making the most of this opportunity is a crying shame.
Tomorrow is a Day Away, Why Wait For It?
Think of how many times you have postponed things for another day; things that really bring you joy. Waiting until ‘tomorrow’ for taking the kids out to the park because the groceries need to be bought today or putting off calling your loved ones because you have some important business calls to make today are all a result of the ‘Tomorrow Syndrome’. Stop putting the things that mean the most to you at the backburner. These are what make life meaningful; give them the priority they deserve.
Life is not a dress rehearsal where you would keep getting repeated chances to grab at missed opportunities or set right all the things that you have done wrong. There are no retakes in the real life!
Make Every Second Count
There are millions of people out there who get up every morning without a single thought as to what lies ahead. This attitude, which screams ‘Here I am day; take me and make whatever you want out of me’ is the worst way of leading life. The truth is if you do not plan for meaningful days, you will soon find that the day has just passed you by and you would have nothing to show for it! You’re never going to get the day back.
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come and today comes by just once in every lifetime! Doesn’t that count for something?
Make every day count; grab it and cherish it. Today is a miraculous gift and should be embraced with all your being. Now is the time to light the candles and bring out the new china; now is the time to put on those heels and go dancing; now is the time to get hold of the one you love and let him know how much he means to you! Postponing all this for getting the grocery done is such an absolute waste!
Sure, there are chores to be done and errands to be run. No matter how much you may want to, you cannot just stop. However, in the midst of all the rushing to and fro it is important to stop and smell the roses; show a loved one how much you care; tuck your kids into bed. Most of all, now is the time to work towards achieving your dreams!
